Levels 3 and 4 are judged as teams only, not individually, so this competition produced six divisional team results and no individual all-around field. It's also one of the slower results to land this season: Gymnastics Victoria hasn't published anything from it at the time of publishing. A source close to the event told me the scores were sent to GV the day after the competition, so it's not clear what's holding things up, especially since GV has managed to post results from competitions that happened after Niddrie quite quickly. But let's put that frustration aside and get into the data: both Niddrie Gymnastic Club and MAGA emailed over the full scoresheets, and the breakdown below is drawn straight from them.
MAGA'S LEVEL 4 SWEEP
Melbourne Acrobatic Gymnastics Academy's Level 4 Division 1 team won every apparatus and the all-around title: vault 28.15, bars 27.375, beam 27.15, floor 28.7, for a total of 111.375, three and a half points clear of second-placed Niddrie on 107.875. That floor score, 28.7, is the highest single mark posted anywhere in the competition.
Its Level 4 Division 2 team backed that up, winning bars (27.55, the best bars rotation of the competition), beam (26.95) and floor (28.625) on the way to the division's all-around title on 108.875. The one apparatus it didn't win was vault, where Niddrie's third-placed team posted the field's best mark, 27.6, but MAGA's strong showing on floor made up for it: at 28.625, it's the second-best floor mark of the entire competition, behind only its own Division 1 team's 28.7.
EDGE MATCHES THE DAY'S TOP SCORE
Over in Division 3, Edge Gymnastics won Level 4 Division 3 outright on 107.85, built on a vault score of 28.7 that stood as the best vault mark of the entire competition, plus a beam score of 27.525, the best beam rotation of the competition. Strive Gymnastics fielded three teams in the same division and finished 2nd, 4th and 5th, with its highest-placed team 2.475 points behind Edge on 105.375.
NIDDRIE'S HOME-FLOOR DEPTH
Host club Niddrie didn't need a division win to make its presence felt. In Level 3 Division 2, the club fielded four separate teams, finishing 4th, 5th, 7th and 10th in a field of ten, while the division itself produced the tightest team finish of the competition: MAGA won it on 106.6, just 0.175 ahead of LFK Dance and Gym on 106.425, with Edge a further 0.225 back on 106.2. Less than half a point covered the top three. Niddrie still had the best vault rotation in the division, 27.05, and took third on the apparatus as well with 26.55.
