Niddrie Invitational 2026 (Levels 5-7): Chamford's Cora Turski Posts the Competition's Top Score as Her Team Holds Off MAGA by 0.7

A few divisions here ran as two separate fields rather than one, most notably Level 5 Division 1 and Level 5 Division 2, probably split due to the number of entries. Where that's the case below, we've reported each pool on its own rather than implying a single division winner. Levels 5 and 6's Over/Under age brackets are a separate, more familiar split, run in the same session, and are reported the usual way.

CHAMFORD HOLDS OFF MAGA IN A TIGHT LEVEL 7 DIVISION 1

In Level 7 Division 1 Under, Chamford's Cora Turski posted 46.1, vault 11.05, bars 11.85, beam 11.7, floor 11.5, the highest individual all-around score posted anywhere in the competition. In the Over bracket of the same division, MAGA's Elena van Eijk won on 45.05, with Waverley Gymnastics Centre's Kristen Moridis just 0.2 behind in second on 44.85.

The two brackets feed into one combined team result, and it came down to the wire: Chamford's team, built on strong depth through the Under bracket, edged MAGA's Pink team 136.7 to 136.0, the tightest and highest-scoring team finish of the whole competition. MAGA actually had the better team score on three of the four apparatus, bars, beam and floor, but Chamford's vault, 33.0 to MAGA's 31.75, was worth more than that combined edge and turned out to be the difference. Jets Gymnastics took third on 132.95.

NIDDRIE'S HOME FLOOR PAYS OFF

The host club had plenty to celebrate. In Level 5 Division 2's third pool, run as its own separate, later session rather than as part of the division's Over/Under split, Niddrie's Skylar Jolevski won on 36.8, the best Level 5 all-around score of the competition. Niddrie also went 2nd and 3rd in Level 5 Division 1's larger pool through Charlie Kolbl and Hazel Allen, behind MAGA's Luckshetha Mauran on 36.475, and its White and Navy teams filled 2nd and 3rd in that pool's team result behind MAGA's Pink team.

In Level 6 Division 1, run as a single field, Sasindee Sunnadeniya won outright on 36.225, and Niddrie's own team backed her up, taking the division's team title on 108.05, 1.875 clear of second-placed MYC Gymnastics on 106.175, a clean individual and team sweep of its own division.

STRIVE GYMNASTICS SWEEPS ITS OWN DIVISIONS

Regional club Strive Gymnastics, from Warrnambool, posted on Facebook after each day, "Our Level 5 team had an incredible first session, showcasing all the hard work they've put in at training" after day one, and "every routine reflected the hard work they've put in throughout the season" for its Level 6 gymnasts on day two. The results back it up. In Level 5 Division 3 Over, Strive swept the top six placings outright: Indy Hughes won it, with clubmates Ava Barraclough, Mia Stanley, Asha Taylor, Payson Walker and Olive Horwill filling 2nd through 6th. Strive also filled three of the division's eight team places, 1st, 2nd and 4th.

Level 6 Division 3 went much the same way: Allira Jenningsbrown won it on 33.925 ahead of three more Strive gymnasts in the next three places, and Strive's only team in the division won the team title on 102.525.

AROUND THE FLOOR

Cheltenham Youth Club had a big weekend across three levels. In Level 5 Division 1's smaller pool, Sienna Quinn and Lois Lee tied for gold on 35.95, and Cheltenham's Green team won that pool's team event on 106.25. In Level 7 Division 2 Under, Isla MacKenzie won on 44.45, and Cheltenham's team took third in the division, 128.5, behind MAGA and Niddrie.

Waverley Gymnastics Centre called it the start of its 2026 competition season for its Level 5 and Level 7 Division 1 squads, most of them debuting new routines, writing that "the determination, resilience and encouragement shown by every gymnast made us just as proud" as the results themselves. Edge Gymnastics fielded gymnasts across both Level 5 and Level 7, posting that it was "another competition down" for its squads, with Annabelle Chalk finishing 4th in Level 5 Division 2 Over on 34.45, up from 34.025 at the Casey Cup the week before.

PROMOTION WATCH

Niddrie produced five cutoff clearances across Levels 5 to 7, one of them a repeat.

MAGA's Isla Saffin is the one to watch. Her 44.5 in Level 7 Division 2 clears that division's 44.0 cutoff for the second time this season, after 44.75 at the BTYC WAG Junior Invite on 12 July, so we should be seeing her in Division 1 at future comps.

Everyone else cleared for the first time. In the same division, MAGA's Matayha Nwesser scraped over the 44.0 mark by just 0.05 with her 44.05, and Cheltenham's Isla MacKenzie cleared it comfortably on her way to the win, 44.45. In Level 5 Division 2, host club Niddrie's Skylar Jolevski went well past the 36.0 cutoff with her winning 36.8, and LFK's Thalia Zajac also got over it on 36.125.

Several more came close without getting there. Flyaway's Liesel Wilson finished just 0.025 short of Level 5 Division 3's 34.0 cutoff, the tightest miss of the weekend, and Strive's Allira Jenningsbrown won Level 6 Division 3 outright but was still 0.075 short of its cutoff. LFK's Anna Kam and MAGA's Billie de Jager were both just short in Level 5 Division 2, Niddrie's Isobelle Abate was 0.15 short in Level 7 Division 2, and Cheltenham's Helen Huynh was 0.2 short in Level 6 Division 2.
